This is a fan fiction/art piece I created based on what I think is going to happen in the next batman movie. I am a huge fan of the character. I don't know if this story has been done already but I decided to do it anyway. Crits and comments welcome.

First off, I love the idea, as well as the picture depicting it. Secondly, I'm not completely on board with everyone else's ideas of why it doesn't work necessarily, although they are right, i think. I just feel that this moment, while powerful and drawing the eye with authority, better belonged in the origin story than in the third film. If this had been in BATMAN BEGINS, that would have only further solidified Bruce's hatred of guns, possibly in THE defining moment of the film, showing him that he cannot compromise his mission or his intentions on something so petty and childish as a suicide attempt.

HOWEVER...I have completely faith in the Nolans. If and when they return, I believe they could make any story of theirs work. If this were to be a huge part of the third film's plot, i would not be against it. In fact, I was just MARVELING at the thought of this mock-up being a part of the next film's poster campaign, something akin to THE DARK KNIGHT'S brilliant campaign with Bats and the Joker. THAT, I would love to see.

Overall, great pic. ANd sorry for rambling. ;p

While the overall quality of the piece is excellent, I can't help thinking it's a huge mischaracterization. The thing about Batman is that he's entirely uncompromising in his beliefs. Aside from thinking that whatever he works towards is correct (because it almost always is), he absolutely, positively hates guns. Even if he did turn suicidal, he would never consider a gun as the method. More likely a poison. That, and you know, the bat cowl can still stop a bullet from that range.

sparks a conversation so i think its working :P and just to add to it they havent really made a point about him hating guns in this new adaptation, considering in the first movie he wanted to use a gun to kill his parents murderer, but w/e :P i think its overall very well done

Thanks for the comment Max. And you're probably right, but this was a mock cover. I wanted to create an image that would draw your eye toward it and create a sense of wonder.
